Brandi Rhodes may be relatively new to the Knockouts Division, but she’s definitely no stranger to the sport of professional wrestling. Making her debut at Bound For Glory 2016, she truly made an IMPACT as she showed up alongside her husband Cody. Their arrival was something special as excitement surrounded the subject. But what was more exciting, was the first time that Brandi was able to step inside the six-sided ring. This was a moment that she was eager to experience knowing that all of her hard work and training to become a wrestler culminated in this moment in the six-sided ring. Brandi wanted to prove that she is more than just a voice, that she is truly an athlete. A figure skater for 17 years, Brandi knows what it takes to be successful. The very first time we were able to see Brandi wrestle, she and Cody fought in a couples mixed match against “The Miracle” Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis Bennett. Both being extremely powerful couples, this cmatch was more than intriguing.
Their victory was sweet, but revenge on Maria Kanellis Bennett was sweeter for Brandi. From the moment that Brandi arrived to IMPACT, Maria had been taunting her with gestures and conflict. But just as one battle was ending, another one had only begun. Rosemary, a master of torture and evil, was eager to encroach on a fresh face. Inviting her to the dark side was only the beginning of Brandi and Rosemary’s controversy. We watched as their feud quickly turned physical when Brandi called out Rosemary and Crazzy Steve and Abyss came with, turning the numbers game heavily in favor of Decay.
Brandi’s friendly demeanor naturally gained her many friends in her short time with IMPACT. One of those friends, Moose, proved his loyalty and came in for the save when Brandi was caught in a precarious situation up against Decay. Together the two became a pretty great team as Mini Moose and Moose conquered Decay in a mixed tag match. Thus far, Brandi has been utterly successful in the IMPACT Zone. With two wins under her belt, Brandi will take the next step and compete individually this week against Kayci Quinn. This will be Brandi’s first time ever to compete in a match one on one on IMPACT. With Brandi’s hard work, experience, and gained knowledge from her husband Cody, one can make an assumption that Brandi is far from failing this Thursday. But not to ignore the recent distraction surrounding Cody and Moose, we have to wonder if Brandi’s mind will be elsewhere. The first couple of times that Cody erupted in the IMPACT Zone because of Moose’s friendly comments from Brandi, she was there to calm him down but ended up walking away discouraged. She made one final attempt last week to rationalize with Cody but her husband was on what seemed to be an unstoppable mission to track down Moose.
But if we know anything about Brandi Rhodes, we know that she’s competitive, determined, and committed to accomplishment. Brandi wants to make a name for herself here at IMPACT. Although she is thankful for the tag team matches that she has been involved in, she is excited to compete on her own.
