Multiple Championships On The Line Thursday, Aug. 17; New GFW Hall of Fame Inductees To Be Announced; Surprise, Newcomer Appearances Confirmed
Gail Kim steps into the six-sided ring at Destination-X on Thursday, Aug. 17, marking her first match in more than a year.
And, it just might be one of the few times when the Hall of Fame Knockout is … the underdog.
Across the ring from Kim is none other than the undisputed, reigning Knockouts Champion, Sienna – a wrestling perfectionist with pristine etiquette.
Something, or, someone has to give … and we’ll find out in one of Global Force Wrestling’s most-anticipated nights of the year. And who knows what GFW Executive Director Karen Jarrett has up her sleeve, as the Karen-Sienna barbs on the microphone have been full force. Plus, KM is always watching Sienna’s back, and he is one angry individual, to put it mildly.
Without question, Destination-X will be a night of memories, with multiple championship matches. Let’s see:
Sonjay Dutt puts the title on the line against Trevor Lee.
Wait, Trevor Lee is putting the title on the line against Sonjay Dutt.
Let’s clear the air and shine the gold … Sonjay Dutt is the reigning champion, his first-ever title-reign. Trevor Lee just happens to be the “opportunist” to have possession of the championship belt – and he actually chooses to wrestle matches with the 35-pound title wrapped around his waist.
Dutt is, no doubt, a bitter fighter, as he finally is the champion and yet Lee is running around, shooting his mouth and claiming to be the champion.
Add in the fact that this will be a Ladder Match, and that makes it a battle that is too close to predict. Lee might have the slight advantage in that his native North Carolina has produced some legends on ladders. Has he absorbed that skill, or is it hidden in all his hair?
For A Future Title Shot
Bobby Lashley seems to be in the driver’s seat for his Destination-X match against Matt Sydal. Lashley is livid that he no longer holds the World Champion and he has a near-75 pound weight advantage over Sydal.
Everything says, bet the house on Lashley.
But no one told Sydal that he can’t topple the wrestling/MMA legend. Sydal, in fact, has been telling anyone and everyone who will listen that he has a game-plan for Lashley that he is certain will destroy Lashley and silence all of the skeptics.
Intrigue is certainly on the line in this match, especially since the winner gets a title-shot of his choosing.
Super X Cup Finals
One of the most anticipated matches at Destination-X is, without question, the Super X Cup Finals, which will be an international free-for-all when Dezmond Xavier, a relative newcomer to GFW hailing from Dayton, Ohio, faces off against Taiji Ishimori from Japan’s Pro Wrestling NOAH.
Fans should get frequent-flyer miles for this match, which promises to be amazing aerial match, coupled with strength on both sides of the ring.
Xavier brings his Final Flash finishing move, which could stop Ishimori.
But Ishimori has the strong experience edge as the reigning, three-time Global Honored Crown (GHC) Junior Heavyweight Championship of Pro Wrestling NOAH, and that promotion’s longest-reigning GHC Junior Heavyweight Champion.
Oddsmakers say Ishimori will claim the championship in the Super X Cup Finals, but Xavier is only three seconds from vaulting himself to super stardom.
Also At Destination-X
The highly-anticipated debut of oVe (Ohio Versus Everything) will be Thursday night on Pop TV and of course broadcast in more than 120 countries as the superstars of GFW take over The Impact Zone on the backlot of Universal Studios Florida for the first of six nights of mat action that will be include surprises, setbacks, upsets, upsetting attitudes, anger, emotion and more.
Let’s also not forget that, at Destination-X, the next inductees to the GFW Hall of Fame will be announced.
And finally, GFW executives have confirmed that a former X-Division Champion will be returning to the scene – and he’s looking to reclaim the gold, quickly!
