It has been fifteen exciting, action-packed years since the birth of IMPACT Wrestling. June 19, 2002 set the wheels in motion for what fans worldwide still tune in weekly to remain connected with today; high flying, athletes who put their bodies on the line inside the six-sided ring to tell a story that will captivate the masses. A company that started with weekly pay-per-view events at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in Nashville and has since traveled the world, most recently taking our flagship show to Mumbai, India, our growth over the years has been tremendous. On our fifteenth anniversary, we take a look back at some of the most incredible moments in the company’s history:
The excitement in the air for that first ever pay-per-view event was palpable. One of the first faces to be seen making his way to the ring that night; current X Division star and 5-time X Division Champion, Low-Ki.
When those weekly pay-per-view events turned into weekly episodes of cable television programming, the monthly pay-per-views became three hour spectacles, the first of which being Victory Road 2004; an epic, groundbreaking night for IMPACT Wrestling, and a step in the direction of becoming a worldwide name in professional wrestling. That night saw some of the greatest names to ever step foot inside the six-sided ring in action including Jeff Jarrett, A.J. Styles and the late Hector Garza.
Another incredible moment that can’t go without celebrating is the inception of the Knockouts in 2007. With so many talented women already a part of the company such as Gail Kim, Jackie Moore and Traci Brooks it only made sense that from them, and the addition of some of the most talented unsigned female talent at the time, that a division of women athletes would evolve that would put women’s wrestling on the map in a whole new way.
From those pivotal “firsts” in company history in the early years to the first inductee into the IMPACT Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2012, The Icon, Sting, IMPACT Wrestling has had some remarkable, history making moments that fans still talk about today.
Fast forward to now, fifteen years later, IMPACT Wrestling, under new management with new faces and some prominent returning names is celebrating a decade and a half of success by giving fans a night to look forward to that will undoubtedly go down as another monumental pay-per-view in company history. On July 2nd, Slammiversary will bring fans what they have come to expect and look forward to from IMPACT Wrestling; high flying action, history making moments and limitless surprises.
On this special day, IMPACT Wrestling would like to thank every loyal fan who has been a part of our continued success for fifteen years, and we look forward to bringing you the best professional wrestling in the world for countless years to come. Happy Anniversary, IMPACT Wrestling!
