The X Division at IMPACT Wrestling is a thrilling spectacle in and of itself. Every match is guaranteed to display uniquely impressive moves and high-flying action that are second to none. Add to that excitement, an apparatus consisting of poles that rise from the ring posts and two massive cables that cross 15 feet above the ring, with the X Division Championship or bright red X suspended in the center and you have a match that is unlike anything professional wrestling has ever seen. The Ultimate X match was born in August of 2003 in Nashville, Tennessee where Michael Shane defeated Frankie Kazarian and Chris Sabin to win the X Division Championship.
Since its inception, the Ultimate X match has been an element of the X Division that has set it, and IMPACT Wrestling as a whole, on another level. Some of professional wrestling’s most talented athletes have braved Ultimate X and for many, have had career defining moments during those matches. One of the most talked about Ultimate X matches of all time was at Bound for Glory 2009 in Irvine, California where Amazing Red would defeat 5 other men to retain the X Division Championship.
With such a rich history, Ultimate X has become a cornerstone match in IMPACT Wrestling and a defining characteristic of what the X Division is all about; no limits. This week when Ultimate X makes its return to the IMPACT Zone, the three competitors will show that they do indeed have no limits when it comes to winning, or in the case of Low-Ki, retaining the X Division Championship. Anything can, and most likely will happen in this match. Low-Ki is determined to hold onto his title, Trevor Lee is just as focused on regaining and Andrew Everett looks to claim the Championship for the first time.
